LITTLE LIGHTHOUSE ONE

Learners in programs Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd are taught to enjoy the fundamentals of learning.  They learn about new things to include themselves and the world around them.  Colors, letters and numbers are the specialties for this group.  By the second grade learners are putting together words and phrases to include comprehension of sentences and story-telling.  These learners are also counting to 100, with introductions to addition, subtraction, multiplying and dividing.  They are creating colorful pictures and beginning to read.

LITTLE LIGHTHOUSE TWO

Learners of this program are (3rd through 5th grade) are reading, reading again, and reading some more. They are taught to read everything they see; and to ask the five “W” questions who, what, when, where and why to satisfy their curiosity.  These learners write stories in vivid details to explain the five “W” questions.  They are multiplying, dividing, and beginning algebraic equations.

At Literacy Lighthouse we reiterate teachings of the teacher; children learn by repetition and remembrance, when learning is repeated it becomes retentive to their brain cells and therefore is the norm.  We assist children with their homework assignments and if there are no assignments given, learners are given learning tasks according to their specific age or grade depending upon their comprehension capabilities.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

LITERACY ONE

Older learners in grades six to nine are taught basic study habits and family values as well.  At this age, proper grooming is important to the learners as well as their peers.  It is important that they learn to bathe daily, wear deodorant and the proper amount of perfume, colon or makeup, and adhere to dress codes to understand why they are important.  They learn to share in the household responsibilities such as cleaning, dish washing, light cooking, and household chores.  These learners learn about working, banking and saving. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

LITERACY TWO

Learners in grades 10-12 are learning about the world outside, college courses and campuses, work, finances, savings and life in general, this group does a good bit of traveling to other places around the city and neighboring states.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

LEADING LIGHTHOUSES

Most adults that participate are preparing for the High School Equivalence program, in this program learners study to learn about themselves and find their best way of learning through the VARK program.  This will help them to understand their point of focus and how they can improve their concentration.  We offer Continuing Education to adults through modules that will help them to improve their personal skills and job qualifications. 

Adult learners in our program are asked to give back to the program in return when they have been successful.  This in return helps someone else to feel confident that they too can be successful when they try.
