Through the support of the mission Literacy Lighthouse will:

-
Promote family health education within each household to ensure better methods for living
-
Provide preventive healthcare to families through teaching basic necessities
-
Support local education systems by teaching families various methods to increase educational values within the home
-
Tutoring services for each family member
In the near future, Literacy Lighthouse will introduce preventative healthcare, maintenance and awareness to families through a variety of workshops. Various courses for adults to enhance their ability to gain employment such as Communication, Organization, Public Presentation, along with skills that can be used at home such as cooking, sewing, ironing, and basic home remedies.
Literacy Lighthouse works with all family members in low income communities and schools which have students with learning difficulties. The goal is to teach families to work together to achieve goals set by the family. At this time, one program through Literacy Lighthouse helps students after school to enhance their reading skills. Another program assists adults to gain employment skills, assisting with completion of employment applications, interviews, and self-dependency. These are two pilot programs for youth and adults, as the attendance increases so will the number of programs to be offered.
The afterschool program assists students in grades K-9 with comprehensive reading, writing, preparation for test and understanding of courses.
